Thrift Love

March 16, 2010

I know I’ve professed my love for thrift stores on here before, but let me just say it one more time.  I <3 thrift stores!  Today the kids and I needed to get out of the house and what better way to spend part of our morning than thrifting?  I think Kaylee loves it just as much as I do, she loves to look at all the stuff and tell me where she would put it in our house and she also loves to look at all the hats to see if there is anything she “needs” for her dress up collection.  I ended up not getting much of anything other than these two beauties but it was a fun time looking around.  I plan on painting both of them and will post some after shots when I get done.  I’m thinking bright pink for the deer and I’m not too sure yet for the Buddha.

Oh and check this kid out, first thing he did this morning once we came into the living room was run and get Kaylee’s DS so he could play Mario. If he isn’t trying to play Mario on the DS he’s begging me to put it on the Wii.  He is very concerned for the princesses safety and thinks that we need to save her right now or it’s gonna be bad. haha!

Happy Love Day People!!

February 14, 2010

Hope everyone had a wonderful Valentines Day!  Our day was spent driving to the Atlanta airport and back to drop off my mother-in-law, some much needed family time outside playing in the left over snow, going to the movies to watch Alvin and the Chipmunks the Squeakquel, and banana splits.  The red headed fox and I decided not to exchange gifts this year, but we did have a chance to get out and have an early Valentines date night while my mother-in-law was visiting.

Also, a few things I’m loving on this wonderful day of love…..

I recently posted that I finished up my first yarn wreath (you can see some awesome ones here!) and I was going to wait until the next OPAM installment to post a photo of it, but I didn’t feel like waiting!  This being my first one and all I wanted something simple and easy, now that the first is done I have so many ideas for the ones that will follow!  I plan on making a quick trip to JoAnn’s tomorrow for a few supplies and will start on my next one in the next few days.

If you would like to know how this was made feel free to send me a quick email and I’ll let you know!_MG_9872-1

Now if you’ll excuse me I have some pretty little curtains to make.  Take care and have a happy Tuesday!

All images were found here!

  1. How could you not love this?  It’s a camera and it’s in bright funky colors.  Love it!
  2. I actually have this brooch on my nightstand.  It was my great grandma’s and I absolutely adore it.
  3. This is a bittersweet one and it makes me think of my great grandma & grandpa and the amazing love they shared.
  4. I’m allergic to cats (just the thought of them makes me itch) so I am by no means a cat person, but how could you not smile when you look at this one?
  5. This one inspires me, so for no other reason than that it’s on here.
  6. I love these heart shaped glasses.  I was just telling the red headed fox the other day that I wanted a pair for next summer.
  7. UP. If you’ve seen the movie then I don’t even need to explain this one.  It’s one of the sweetest movies ever!
  8. Pink glittery shoes, need I say more?  haha!  I love these, now if I could only find a pair around here.
  9. Marilyn Monroe.  I’m a big Marilyn fan and pink is one of my favorite colors so naturally this is on the things that make me smile list.
  10. Jim & Pam!!  The Office is a huge hit around here and I have been pulling for these two since the beginning.  I think they are one of my favorite TV couples.

So what makes you smile?  Don’t be shy, leave a comment and let me know!!

The Twilight Saga: New Moon

November 21, 2009

I’m going to start off by saying that I love, love, love the Twilight Saga. I devoured the whole saga  in about a week.  Love them!
When Twilight came out I made sure I went right away to see it, but I left dissapointed.  Don’t get me wrong, I like the movie, but I don’t love it like I did the book.

Now fast forward to this past week, we set up a babysitter, bought our tickets early and planned a date night to go see New Moon.  The theater was packed with 5 screens playing New Moon, I was so sure that this time would be different, that I would love New Moon just like I did the book. No such luck, I thought it was ok and liked it but it wasn’t good enough to make me love it. When the third installment of comes out next summer I will of course go see it, but my expectations are low.  It’s true what they say, the movie is never as good as the book.

I’m here!

September 25, 2009

I really am here, I promise!

Things have been going 90 to nothing these last couple of weeks and with under 30 days left in this deployment I feel like I will never get everything that needs to be done, done.

So please forgive me if things seem to be a little slow around here, it’ll pick up I promise.  On top of the million things I have to do I have a handful of sessions coming up and will blog them as soon as I get the chance.

For now, I leave you with my one and only or as everyone around here knows him, the red headed fox.  I can’t believe we are at the end of a very loooooong 15 months.  Looking back, the time has seemed to fly (that’s what raising 2 kids under the age of 5 will do for you!) and I am so thankful for that.  Soon our family will all be reunited and we will be starting a new chapter of our lives……

What My Clients Are Saying….

September 16, 2009

Sasha-

Thank you for all the TOTALLY AWESOME pictures that you took of Sammie and I! All the different varieties of poses made me feel like we were in a totally different world when I looked at them A.K.A. Modern Day American Gothic.  You truly captured Sammie and I’s love for each other within your lens. No other photographer could have done it better :)

Sasha Branam’s work is awesome!  Sasha focuses on catching the true personality of her subjects & her creative eye shines through in each photograph.  Not only are her prices reasonable & the availability of the final product timely, but her work ethic is priceless as she makes her subjects feel comfortable & is very attentive to her clients requests (even when it comes to shooting at ‘less than desirable  locations! ). Sasha is a professional in every sense of the word & I can’t say enough about our wonderful photo experience with her!

Fun to Work With, Amazing Eye, Wonderful Photos!

Sasha is a creative, fabulous photographer. She is friendly, light hearted, warm and fun to be with.  She is relaxed yet a true professional. She has an artistic eye for a great shot.  She recently took pictures of our 4 month old son and we couldn’t be more pleased with the results. She was extremely patient with our little one which is oh so important.   It is obvious she loves what she does.  It shows in her work, which result in wonderful photos.  It would be tough to find anyone better.

The last thing I will leave you with is the stunning Adele.  I discovered her through the red headed fox.  Apparently the medic on the fox’s MiTT team is a HUGE fan of her and I can see why.  Chasing Pavements is my favorite song so far, but I’m loving everything I have heard from her.  You can view her Chasing Pavements video on YouTube by clicking here.

I’m thinking about doing a “Things I’m Loving” section possibly weekly or maybe even monthly so if you enjoyed this post let me know by leaving a comment!

Have a happy and safe Labor Day weekend!!

September Issue of Glamour

August 26, 2009

If I could high five the people at Glamour magazine right now I would.  I am so happy that they put a real woman in their September issue.  I’m not going to post the photo here because I know a good bit of you visit this site while your at work so I will post the link and you can view it at your own discretion.

Way to go Glamour!!

Here’s an interview she did with Matt Lauer on the Today Show as well. I love how she says “I’m not saying that size 2 isn’t normal…but MY normal is this.”

If you go to visit the main website you may notice that the splash page looks a little wonky.  I’m in the middle of updating it and it will all be back to normal soon.  So just excuse the mess.  :)
