Book of {Love}

January 31, 2010

A couple of posts ago I mentioned that I promised my camera I would be using her daily.  I have recieved several emails since then asking what my plan was, not very patient are you people? I kid, I kid! My project for 2010 is to take 100 photos of things that I adore and at the end of the year I plan on having a coffee table book made out of them.  I will be posting them on here so you can all enjoy as well.  I will be making the first post in the Book of {Love} series sometime this week.

I know I said that today I would be taking some birthday photos of my little man and a couple of his sister too, but I did not.  Honestly I just didn’t feel up to it.  To answer your question before it’s asked (because I know it will be asked) my grandmother has been battling cancer for the last 2.5 years and things aren’t looking good at this time.  I’m not going to go into all the specifics, but if you could send a prayer, thought, positive energy or whatever it is you do our way we would appreciate it.

On a lighter note I just finished up my very first yarn wreath!  For those of you who do not know what they are you can see some fabulous ones here, mine comes nowhere near those yet, but soon they will!  It was super easy to make and I will post a photo of it in the next OPAM overload installment.

OPAM Overload

January 29, 2010

It’s been a while since I last made a OPAM (one project a month) post. Just because I haven’t been making the posts doesn’t mean I haven’t been working on projects! :) Here are a few that I have accomplished since moving in our new house. Some are small easy ones and a couple others took more time. If you would like to know how I did something, just email me and I’ll let you know!

My photo collage!! I LOVE this so much! I was looking through a DIY magazine and came across this and knew that I absolutely wanted to do it, so with the help of the Red Headed Fox, we now have an awesome photo collage on our wall! (Excuse the missing spaces where there were photos, I stole a couple for a different project)

Here’s a few mixed in together. L to R — The vintage framed art. One thing you should know about me is I love to collect old frames from thrift stores and fix them up.  I also love to collect fabric.  So when we found some awesome vintage style kitchen stuff I automatically knew what I wanted to do with the empty space above the sink.  I love these and it really helps bring the kitchen all together!  The bless this house frame. I found this little gem at a thrift store too!  But when I found it it was in a less appealing frame and wasn’t red! I cleaned it up, painted the frame bright red and it has become one of my favorites! The big B. This project took a little longer than the others.  I bought a big B from JoAnn’s and covered it with this really cool vintage fabric.  It felt like it took me forever to get it just right, but I love the outcome! The small green frame. This was another picture frame rescue from the thrift store.  I just love this photo of my great grandparents and their daughters and wanted to do something with it other than your normal boring black picture frame.  I also made the fun pom poms using this tutorial. It was super easy and fun! The clipboard frame. I made this the other day using an old frame, fabric, aligator clips & buttons!  I just love it and it was super easy to make!

I have a few more projects that I’ve done that aren’t listed but I’ll save those for another round of OPAM overload.  Enjoy your Friday people and have a safe weekend!

Can you believe that I have not picked up a camera since October?  Sure I’ve used my easy point and shoot, but my “real” camera hasn’t seen ANY action since October.  Crazy isn’t it.  I love photography so how could I do this to my poor camera?  The answer is easy, I’ve been busy.  Busy with the kids, busy with the red headed fox and the adjustment of him being back home, busy with school and just busy with life.  So I dug out my camera from it’s bag and went to turn it on only to find the battery was dead.  I plugged the charger in the wall and made a promise to my sweet camera that I would never neglect her like that again.  In fact I promised that I would start using her on a daily basis (more on that to come soon).

I had planned on posting a blog of all the fun DIY projects I have done since we moved in this cozy little place, but it’s going to have to wait until tomorrow.

I will also be taking some new photos of the little ones on Sunday for Harper’s birthday (can you believe he’s going to be 3?  THREE! Already?  Where has the time gone?) so check back soon for that!

Much Love,

I’m back…

January 26, 2010

Seriously I am, I know I’ve said this time and time again, but this time I promise I’m back. :) I have had time to get back into a schedule with school, kids and just life in general, so I’m 100% back and new stuff will be all over this blog in the coming weeks and hey, if your lucky you might get to see some new photos of my little punks.

Much Love,
